Baseball: Osakis remains undefeated in Prairie Conference
The Osakis baseball team shut out St. John’s Prep on Tuesday night in a five-inning, 14-0 Prairie Conference victory.
“Coming off of two losses, we needed to get back in the win column,” Osakis head coach Shad Schmidt said. “We also wanted to continue to stay undefeated in the conference.”
The Silverstreaks are 9-3 overall with six conference wins. They split their game with the Johnnies between four different pitchers.
Sophomore Luke Imdieke started and pitched an inning and 2/3, walking three and striking out two. Senior Reid DeWenter went 1 1/3 with one strike and one hit. Mason Moore and Isaac Froemming each pitched an inning as Moore walked one with one strikeout and Froemming had two strikeouts.
“Best case scenario was to have three or four guys pitch and stay under 30 pitches to have all arms available on Wednesday for another conference doubleheader,” Schmidt said. “We were able to do that, so we are happy with the results and how we played.”
Carter Rost was 2-for-3 at the plate with one run and three RBIs. DeWenter was 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBIs. Moore was 2-for-2 with one run and one RBI and Logan Hartshorn was 1-for-1 with a run and an RBI.
Freshman Waylon Muenzhuber got his first varsity at bat and hit a double for one RBI.
“We got a lot of production throughout the lineup and were able to get some at bats for some other guys,” Schmidt said.OSAKIS - 3 5 0 6 0ST JOHNS - 0 0 0 0 0OSAKIS PITCHING - Luke Imdieke - 1.2IP, 3BB, 2K; Reid DeWenter - 1.1IP, 1K, 1H; Mason Moore - 1IP, 1BB, 1K; Isaac Froemming - 1IP, 2KOSAKIS OFFENSE - Luke Imdieke - 0-0, 2R, 1BB, 2HBP, 1SB; Hunter Infanger - 2-3, 2R, 1RBI, 1SB; Logan Hartshorn - 1-1, 1R, 1RBI, 1BB, 1HBP; Carter Rost - 2-3, 1R, 2RBI, 1BB; Reid DeWenter - 1-2, 2R, 2RBIs, 1BB; Mason Moore - 2-2, 1R, 1RBI; Isaac Froemming - 0-1, 1R, 2BB; Luke Staloch - 1-3, 1R, 1 RBI; Jerret Seela - 2-3, 1R, 1SB; Carter Grove - 0-0, 1BB, 1R; Brandon Hetland - 0-1, 1RBI; Riley Weven - 0-1, 1K; Curtis Woidyla - 0-1, 1K; Waylon Muenzhuber - 1-1, 1R, 1RBI
