'Boot or Salute'
Jim Tenhoff's big impact
Salute: Osakis lost a community leader when Jim Tenhoff succumbed to an illness on Dec. 10 after a courageous battle. Tenhoff was a quartermaster at the Osakis VFW. He joined the post shortly after his discharge and stayed active with it throughout his life, all while holding down a fulltime job, raising a family and being a dedicated member of his church, according to VFW Commander Mike Kral, who wrote about Tenhoff in the post's January newsletter. "During his tenure at Post 7902, Jim was, without a doubt, the glue that held the post together," Kral noted. "Through the good times and difficult times, Jim maintained a positive attitude, never complained, never wavered from his commitment, was always appreciative of the efforts of others and was always there. And sometimes we find ourselves complaining about being too busy. One needs only to reflect on the life of Jim Tenhoff and we can't help but come away with beneficial lessons. It would behoove us all to absorb some of the positive attributes of a person like Jim and move forward in life with the effort in mind to become a better person."
