Choir director retires after 60 years. Lil Kvammen, age 92 will officially end more than 60 years of directing the choir at Osakis Lutheran Church. "It was the very difficult turning in my resignation", Lil stated, "I just love music and enjoy it so much. When you love your work it's not really work."
YMCA party to help scholarship program. Alexandria YMCA leaders believe that everyone in the community deserves the opportunity to participate in programs or as members regardless of their ability to pay. In 2007, more than 50 children, adults and families have received financial assistance to participate in many of the programs offered by the YMCA.
An Ace of a show. The Alexandria Aces Basketball Performance Team took center stage at halftime of the Osakis boys basketball games on Thursday night, wowing the crowds with their amazing skills.

Osakis Chamber recognizes all new businesses. The Osakis Chamber of Commerce welcomed and thanked all new business owners for 1992 and complimented all business that got a new look this year.
Three-hour fire destroys garage. A three-hour fire completely destroyed the garage of Mienard Munkberg on Monday morning, Dec. 21. The garage was located about a mile off County Road 3, said Osakis Fire Chief, Ken Pomerleau. A 1987 Chevy Blazer was destroyed, but most of the other equipment in the garage/workshop was saved. No injuries were reported.
Osakis boys win fourth in a row. The Osakis boys basketball team went 4-0 with a 56-33 victory over Upsala. It was the Streaks first away game of the season. This year's team shows a lot of promise for a good season.

Chamber Bonus Bucks offered. A total of $760 in chamber Bonus Bucks was offered to Osakis shoppers in the eight days of daily Bonus Bucks drawings before Christmas.
Fire at the Vandewinkel's farm. The Osakis Fire Department was called to the Lum Vandewinkel farm, about seven miles north of town. A chimney fire was put out and no injuries were reported.
Local National Guardsman rewarded. Cadet DeWayne Klamm of Osakis was one of 109 Minnesota National Guardsmen awarded the blue epaulets of a senior cadet in the Minnesota Military Academy.

Federal officers to visit county. In a communication received by this paper, E. J. Lynch, tax officer will be sent into this county and various cities and be ready and willing to help persons subject to income tax to make out their returns without any cost to them.
Notice to all automobile owners. Automobile owners are no doubt aware of the fact that it will be necessary for them to have the new license tags on cars driven after January 1, 1918. The new license fee is $5 and will cover the years 1918, 1919, and 1920.
